KATHMANDU: President Bidya Devi Bhandari has extended best wishes for the long life, good health, happiness, peace and dignified life of all the senior citizens at home and abroad on the occasion of the 30th International Day of Older Persons 2020.

Stating that it is the duty of all to ensure a dignified life for all the senior citizens in the changed context while internalizing the country’s cultural tradition and family values based on the sentiment that ‘mother is god; father is god’, President Bhandari has appealed to all to give respect and support to the elderly citizens from their respective side.

Referring to the social security allowance and health insurance coverage provided to the senior citizens by the government, President Bhandari has said that these measures have helped bring about a positive change in the attitude of the state, society and family towards the senior citizens.

She has also appealed to the sides concerned to further expand the programs focused on the senior citizens by making it useful for life, to ensure that their life is respected, dignified and happy.
