SC stays blacklisting of ‘controversial’ firm Omni

KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court (SC) on Monday stayed the government’s decision to blacklist ‘controversial’ firm Omni Business Corporation International Pvt. Ltd. A single bench of Justice Purusottam Bhandari issued the interim order.

Omni had moved the apex with claims that the government’s decision to blacklist it for failing to provide health supplies as per the agreement was illegal.

On behalf of Omni, proprietor Paras KC had filed a writ petition at the court on Friday.

The Public Procurement Monitoring Office on September 14 had decided to blacklist the controversial firm for one year.

Omni was awarded a contract by the Department of Health Services to bring health supplies used for coronavirus prevention.

The department had recommended blacklisting Omni in March for not bringing health supplies on time as per the terms of the agreement.
