KATHMANDU: The Khemlal-Harikala Lamichhane Social Welfare Foundation has decided to confer Padmashree Literary Award to writer Sanjeev Uprety for his novel ‘Hansa’.
The award carried a purse of Rs 300,000.
The novel has presented the complexities of love and relationship created by man-made country, law and culture and how it is oppressing and burdening man through the story of nature and duck in a self-imaginative style.
Similarly, this year’s Padmashree Sadhana Samman will be given to writer Modanath Prasrit.
The foundation has decided to honor Prasrit, who has made a significant contribution to social transformation and national unity through writing Nepali poetry, essays, plays, stories, critiques and culture for the past six decades.
Khemlal-Harikala Lamichhane Foundation, Chitwan has been conferring Padmashree Literary Award every year since 2063 BS.
Jiva Lamichhane, President of the foundation, said that the awards and honors would be conferred every year on the day of Kojagrat Purnima, the last day of the Dashain festival.
