Valley DAOs to monitor market targeting festivals



KATHMANDU: District administration offices of all three districts in the Kathmandu Valley are set to carry out market monitoring soon targeting the upcoming festivals.

Chief District Officer of Kathmandu Janak Raj Dahal made public this information at an interaction on market monitoring and security of the Valley here Friday.

In this regard, a monitoring committee involving chief district officers of all three districts has been formed, he said. Each CDO will divide his/her responsibility to monitor different items.

To this effect, four separate teams have been mobilized, said Director-General of the Department of Commerce Supplies and Consumers Protection Netra Prasad Subedi.

Clarification has been sought from seven hospitals and laboratories for charging high beyond set cost for carrying out PCR tests, he said.

Executive Director of the Nepal Oil Corporation Surendra Poudel said there was a stock of petroleum products and cooking gas so that people would not face a shortage in the wake of upcoming festivals.

Manager of the Salt Trading Corporation Brajesh Jha said fair price shops would open on the eve of the festivals.

Now, the Corporation has 800 metric tonnes of sugar. Additional 20,000 metric tonnes of sugar would be supplied considering the festivals, he said.

Saying that there were reforms in peace and security in the Kathmandu Valley as compared to the past, Senior Superintendent of Police Shyam Lal Gyawali said anyone promoting black marketing would face action.

Help desks at ten places would be established for facilitating passengers during festivals, said Chief of the Metropolitan Traffic Police Division Senior Superintendent of Police Bhim Dhakal.
