People recovering from COVID-19 likely to have health problems



KATHMANDU: A study released by the Nepal Health Research Council showed that people infected and recovered from coronavirus will suffer health problems for up to three weeks.

The council studied 552 persons’ physical, mental and social condition over the age of 18 who have recovered from coronavirus in all the seven province.

Out of the participants, 89.1 percent had normal symptoms of coronavirus while 10.9 percent had symptoms of cold, chills, loss of  odor and taste, Dr. Pradip Gyawali, Member-secretary at Council informed.

Similarly, 35 percent of the patients showed flu, fatigue and respiratory problems within two to three weeks of recovery.

About 70 percent of the participants in the study were chronically ill. Among them, diabetes, heart disease, asthma, respiratory diseases and HIV have been found to be the most common.

According to Dr Gyawali, a study of the mental health of 552 people who recovered from the coronavirus found that 15.1 percent had recurrent frustrations and unnecessary thoughts about the corona.

In 7.7 percent, negative perceptions of others have been found. Of those who recovered from coronary heart disease, 21.4 percent had work anxiety, 19.2 percent had home anxiety, and 29.6 percent had unemployment, according to the council.

They complained that they did not receive any affection or love from their relatives during the infection. According to the report, 84.3 percent of the participants reported increased mental anxiety due to social discrimination and abuse.
