Nepali youths demonstrate against China over border encroachment

KATHMANDU: Nepali youths have staged a demonstration in front of Chinese Embassy at Baluwatar in Kathmandu saying that China encroached the Nepali territory.

Shouting slogans, ‘Stop Border Encroachment’, ‘Return the Encroached Nepali Land’, ‘Open Nepal-China Border’, ‘Down with Chinese Imperialism’, a large number of Nepali youths have hit the streets against China in the capital this morning.

Meanwhile, a large number of security personnel have been deployed in the area near the Chinese Embassy at Baluwatar to prevent any untoward incidents.

According to a news published recently, China has allegedly constructed a building in the Nepali territory in Humla district.

Refuting the news, China, in a press statement, said the land where the building is constructed belongs to China.

Issuing a press note on Tuesday night, Chinese Embassy claimed that the territory where the building is constructed belongs to China.

Spokesperson of Chinese Embassy in Kathmandu Wang Xiaolong said China has an evidence and supporting document to determine that the land belongs to China.

No sooner the news about the Nepali territory encroachment by northern neighbor hit the headlines, than Humla’s Chief District Officer flanked by security personnel reached the disputed area to take stock of the situation.

In a meeting held between CDO of Humla and Chinese officials, China side claimed that the disputed land belong to China.

Meanwhile, Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) Chairman Kamal Thapa has demanded that China must withdraw its security forces from the disputed territory in Humla.

Posting a twitter message, Thapa said China must take its security forces back from the disputed area and the Nepal government also should make the details about the border encroachment issue public at the earliest.
