Octogenarian dies of COVID-19 at Birat Teaching Hospital



BIRATNAGAR: An 86-year-old man has died from the coronavirus at Birat Teaching Hospital on Wednesday morning.

According to Sudhir Singh Rathore, the administrative chief of the hospital, the octogenarian succumbed to the virus at 5:50 am today.

Originally from Bhadrapur-10, Jhapa, the elderly had been admitted to the Intensive Care Unit of the hospital after he showed signs similar to the coronavirus on August 19.

The report of his swab sample collected on the same day came out positive on September  21, said Dr Puru Koirala, the chief of the isolation.

He had been suffering from fever, acute pneumonia, liver and respiratory complications.

The hospital said preparations are underway to dispose his body.
