1,154 new COVID-19 cases registered, Nepal’s tally jumps to 65,276



KATHMANDU: A total of 1,154 new cases of COVID-19 were recorded in the country in the past 24 hours.

The coronavirus tally has reached 65,276 with the fresh cases, Health Ministry’s Spokesperson Dr. Jageshwor Gautam said on Monday afternoon.

He added that the new cases were detected when 9,533 samples were tested in laboratories across the country. Nepal has carried out 923,823 Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) tests so far.

A total of 17,611 people are currently under isolation. Dr. Gautam stated that a total of 8,690 people are in home isolation and 8,921 in institutional isolation facilities.

Likewise, 7,403 people are in quarantine facilities across the country at present.

According to Dr. Gautam, 1,005 individuals got discharged from the hospitals in the past 24 hours while the number of people winning the battle against the virus reached 47,238 in the country.

Nepal’s recovery rate stands at 72 percent, he added.

Meanwhile, 16 persons lost their lives to the deadly virus in the last 24 hours. The total death toll has reached 427 in the country.
