3 writ petitions filed at SC against Bamdev Gautam



KATHMANDU: Three separate writ petitons have been filed at the Supreme Court (SC) against Vice Chairman Bamdev Gautam’s nomination to the National Assembly arguing that his nomination breached the constitution since he had lost the elections of the House of Representatives.

According to Supreme Court sources, the filed writ petitions are sub judice whether to schedule them for hearing  or quash them.

“Three separate writ petitions have been lodged at the Supreme Court aginst Bamdev Gautam. They are currently sub judice whether to quash or schedule them for hearing,” said the source.

One of the writ petitions has been filed by senior advocate Dinesh Tripathi. “To nominate a person who lost the elections of the House of Representatives is to breach the constitution,” reads the petition.

President  Bidya Bhandari on September 14 had nominated Gautam as the NA member in line with the cabinet’s decision.
