Transport entrepreneurs warn of operating vehicles with fully-occupied seats



KATHMANDU: Transport entrepreneurs have warned the government that they would operate public transport with full capacity passengers.

The entrepreneurs’ warning comes as the government decided to allow the airline companies to fly with full capacity by maintaining physical distance.

Saroj Sitaula, General Sof the National Federation of Nepali Transport Entrepreneurs, has alleged the government for brining a discriminatory policy by allowing people to sit in full seats in the aircraft.

“We can keep only half of the passengers in the public vehicles, no matter what you do in the aircraft. Doesn’t the coronavirus transmit from aircraft?” he queried.

He alleged that the government allowed aircraft to have passengers in all the seats on the basis of accessibility.

“Doesn’t wealthy people have to maintain social distance onboard?” he queried, further asking, “Why has the government brought such a discriminatory rule for common people?

He warned that if the aircraft and vehicles are not treated equally, transport entrepreneurs will operate the public transport fully-occupied.
