Nepal Army soldier succumbs to COVID-19



KATHMANDU: Nepal has witnessed its first death of security personnel from the coronavirus.

According to Nepal Army (NA), a 34-year-old soldier from Ramechhap and currently deployed in Kathmandu has succumbed to the pandemic.

NA Spokesperson Santosh Ballav Poudel said that the soldier who was also suffering from blood cancer died on September 14.

He had tested positive for the pandemic virus on Thursday.

Poudel said that 2,056 NA personnel have been infected with the coronavirus so far.

Of them, 1,654 are undergoing treatment at various hospitals, while 401 have recovered and joined duties.
