Nepal’s COVID-19 death toll reaches 360 with record-high 15 new fatalities



KATHMANDU: A total of 15 people succumbed to the coronavirus in the past 24 hours totaling the coronavirus caused deaths 360 so far, the Ministry of Health confirmed on Monday.

According to the Ministry, ten men and five women died of the pandemic including eight in the Kathmandu Valley.

Two men aged 40 and 70 years died in Morang, men aged 77, 62, 73, 85 and 70 years in Kathmandu, a man aged 55 years in Lalitpur, a man aged 73 years in Bhaktapur and a 23-year-old man in Ramechhap succumbed to the pandemic.

Likewise, a 61-year-old woman in Kathmandu, a 63-year-old woman in Gorkha, a 62-year-old woman in Nawalparasi, a 55-year-old woman in Parsa and a woman aged 47 years in Kapilvastu died of the coronavirus.

Nepal had recorded nine deaths on Sunday.

Meanwhile, the country recorded a total of 1,170 new cases of coronavirus infection in the past 24 hours.

According to the Ministry of Health and Population, with the recent data, the total number of cases reached 55,329 in the country as of Monday afternoon.

Ministry’s Spokesperson Dr. Jageshwor Gautam said that Nepal currently has 15,393 active cases.

According to Dr. Gautam, 879 individuals got discharged from the hospitals in the past 24 hours while the number of people winning the battle against the virus reached 39,576 in the country.
