KATHMANDU: The decision of Padma Aryal, Minister for Land Management, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation to allow plotting of land has been scrapped.
Minister Aryal had taken the decision on September 3 to allow fragmentation of the land. However, it had to be revoked barely eight days after the decision owing to wide criticism from the ruling Nepal Communist Party.
The decision was opposed by the the NCP saying that it was against the Land Act and Rules, Local Government Operation Act 2074 BS and would destroy agricultural land.
“Until the Land Use Regulations are issued, the pre-decisions made by the Government of Nepal regarding the plotting of agricultural land on September 3 have been scrapped,” said Joint Secretary Deepak Kumar Pahadi.
“It should be understood that the decisions taken earlier at the ministerial level have been scrapped. Now there will be no plotting without land use regulations,” said Shesh Narayan Poudel, Director General at the Department.
