SHANGHAI: China’s police detained 17 people in connection with a deadly pesticide plant blast that killed 78 people in eastern China last month, China’s state media reported.
The explosion in March 21 at a plant prompted China’s safety watchdog to initiate an inspection of hazardous mines, chemicals, transportation and fire safety practices, reports said.
Meanwhile, authorities have shut the industrial park where the blast occurred in Yancheng city while dozens of other sites face closure.
With this, a total of 26 people have been detained in connection with the disaster.
