KATHMANDU: The Standing Committee meeting of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) has concluded on Friday by endorsing the joint proposal tabled by party Chairman duo PM KP Oli and Executive Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’.

According to NCP Spokesperson Narayan Kaji Shrestha, the meeting concluded after 13 SC members including Jhalanath Khanal, Bhim Rawal and Madhav Kumar Nepal aired their views today.

Spokesperson Shrestha informed that the party has decided again to intensify the party unity, make the party livelier and bridge up the gaps formerly erupted in the party.

The SC meeting had been interrupted after the internal conflict in the party reached a new height after Prime Minister Oli blamed India for trying to topple his government.

The meeting that had started from June 24 had been postponed without reaching at any conclusion on the issues like the ‘party-government relationship’ and the jurisprudence of the Chairmen and other members.

According to Spokesperson Shrestha, NCP’s Friday’s meeting has decided to correct the past errors and run the party as per the spirit of the unification.

Talking about power conflict on the party, Shrestha said that according to the decision, PM Oli would lead the government further effectively.

Likewise, another Chairman Prachanda would exercise the Executive Chairman’s role to unite and lead the party more strongly than before.

He informed the media representatives that as per the decision the party not to interfere in the day to do functioning of the government, yet the government would be run as per the spirit of the party.

“The important and long term impact making decisions of the government would be at the consent of the Secretariat and Chairmen,” he said.

He further said that the party would hold its general convention on April 7-12, 2021.

The party has also thanked the government for the stance it showed in the border dispute and thanked all who offered solidarity with the government in this task, Spokesperson Shrestha said.

Speaking on MCC, Shrestha said that the Millenium Challenge Corporation (MCC) compact would be endorsed after making necessary revisions including the main issues pointed out by leader Jhala Nath Khanal-led taskforce.
