KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Oli has instructed Law Minister and concerned bodies to draft a law within 15 days to take action against acid attackers.
PM Oli said that a new law will be enacted immediately through an ordinance to take action against the perpetrators of inhumane and heinous crimes as demanded by the acid victims.
The Prime Minister has said that arrangements will be made for the treatment of the offenders by confiscating their property and paying compensation, maintenance and assistance to the victims by rushing them to the hospital for treatment.
Talking to 12 victims of acid attacks across the country in Baluwatar today, the Prime Minister announced that arrangements would be made for treatment at Bir Hospital and Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital.
“The government will provide free education to those who want to study after the attack,” he said.
He also said that the government would make arrangements for proper training, employment, business and livelihood.
He also called on all to move forward to celebrate September 10 every year as the day of awareness against acid attack.
The Prime Minister assured the participants that the government would work hard to prevent any incident of acid attack and to create a situation where no one would have to suffer in the coming days to build a civilized society.
It is said that there are 19 acid victims in 17 different incidents of acid attack in Nepal.
