KATHMANDU: Nepal has confirmed 979 new coronavirus positive cases in the last 24 hours.
Speaking at a regular press briefing on Monday afternoon, Spokesperson at the Ministry of Health and Population Dr. Jageshwor Gautam said that Nepal’s COVID-19 tally has reached 47,236 with the new cases.
One person from Udayapur, 16 from Jhapa, six from Panchthar, one from Bhojpur, 39 from Morang, 65 from Sunsari and one from Solukhumbu in Province 1 have been confirmed positive.
Similarly, the pandemic virus has been confirmed in 44 people of Dhanusha, three people of Mahottari, 19 people of Saptari, 20 people of Sarlahi and 41 people of Siraha in Province 2.
As many as 293 people from Kathmandu, 28 from Kavre, 19 from Chitwan, 3 from Dolakha, four from Dhading, 13 from Bhaktapur, 73 from Makwanpur, 20 from Lalitpur and one from Sindhuli in Bagmati Province have been diagnosed coronavirus positive.
Dr. Gautam said that 30 people from Kaski, 18 from Gorkha, six from Tanahun, 16 from Nawalparasi East, one from Parbat and 15 from Lamjung in Gandaki Province have been found positive.
Likewise, coronavirus infection has been confirmed in two people from Kapilvastu, eight people from Gulmi, two people from Nawalparasi, five people from Palpa, 41 people from Pyuthan, 41 people from Bardiya, 42 people from Banke and 41 people from Rupandehi in Province 5.
Similarly, two from Kalikot, one from Jajarkot, one from Jumla, three from Dailekh and 19 from Surkhet in Karnali Province have been confirmed to have contracted the coronavirus.
A total of seven people from Kanchanpur, three people from Kailali, one person from Bajhang and one person from Bajura in Sudurpaschim Province have been found positive.
He added that 9,218 samples were tested through the Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) method in laboratories across the country.
Currently, 16,259 are undergoing treatment in isolation. A total of 9,070 are in institutional isolation and 7,190 in home isolation.
A total 4,739 of have been quarantined, Spokesperson Dr. Gautam said.
Meanwhile, 1,736 COVID-19 patients were discharged from different hospitals and isolation centers.
So far, 30,677 people have been discharged across the country after recovery. The recovery rate now stands at 65 percent.
According to the Ministry, 11 people including lost their lives from coronavirus in the last 24 hours. With the new deaths, Nepal’s coronavirus death toll stands at 300.
