Nepali cricketer Lamichhane’s team Jamaica faces defeat for sixth time

KATHMANDU: Nepali cricketer Sandeep Lamichhane’s team Jamaica Tallawahs has faced a defeat for the sixth time under the Caribbean Premier League (CPL). Jamaica lost to St Licia Zouks by 11 runs in the last match of the CPL.

Chasing the 146-run target in the match held on Monday, Jamaica was able to score only 134 runs, losing nine wickets in the allotted 20 overs.

Opener Glenn Phillips hit 49 runs including four fours and one six off 36 balls before being bowled out by Zahir Khan.

Despite Glenn Phillips’ flying start with 84 runs in 11.4 overs in partnership with J Blackwook, Jamaica lost the match after tail-ender batsmen could not perform well.

Earlier, winning the toss and electing to bat first, St Licia Zouks made 145 runs losing six wickets in 20 overs in the match held at Brian Lara Stadium.

Zouks’ Najibullah Zadran scored highest 35 runs with one four and three sixes in 25 balls, RL Chase made 32 runs including one four and one six in 25 balls and remained unbeaten.

Likewise, Lamichhane took one wicket conceding 20 runs in 4 overs.  Mujeeb Ur Rahman grabbed two wickets giving away 28 runs in four overs while FH Edwards, CR Brathwaite, V Permaul took one wicket each.
