Fugitive murder-convict held from Kailali

KATHMANDU: Police have arrested an absconding murder-convict from Kailali district.

Acting on a tip-off, a team of District Police Office, Kailali arrested 48-year-old Puran Prasad Kumal of Kailari rural municipality-5.

Kumal had murdered 23-year-old Ram Bahadur Kumal in the Nepali month of Kartik in 2061 BS.

District Court, Kailali had slapped Puran Prasad with a life imprisonment along with a confiscation of all his properties in 2065 BS.

He had escaped from the Kailali district prison when the then Maoist rebels attacked the prison in 2061 BS.

High Court, Dipayal and Supreme Court had also endorsed the verdict issued by Kailali District Court on the case of Puran.
