17 killed, over 1.4 million displaced in Odisha floods

KATHMANDU: Seventeen people lost their lives and more than 1.4 million were affected due to floods in five river systems of Odisha, Indian media reports said.

According to a preliminary assessment, 10,382 houses and 168,000 hectare of crop land were destroyed by the floods.

The flood also caused massive damage to infrastructure. In 11 districts, 107 roads were cut off by the swirling water.
