Medical team mobilized after six die with high fever

KANCHANPUR: A medical team has been mobilized to investigate the cases of high fever in Mahakali Municipality of Kanchanpur.  Six people have died in the past two weeks with a high fever.

The team was mobilized from the Sudur Paschim Provincial Health Directorate.  The team that reached Mahakali on Saturday has collected blood samples from the sick and their family members.

The samples will be sent to Kathmandu for a lab test, according to the vector controller of the directorate Hem Raj Joshi.

The team has suspected Japanese encephalitis or meningitis. However, there is no sign of an epidemic, said Joshi.

Three people are undergoing treatment at the Dodhara primary health center and two at home.
