‘Impose tax on social networking sites’

KATHMANDU: The Office of the Attorney General (OAG) has suggested that the tax be imposed on social networking sites.

Submitting a report to President Bidya Devi Bhandari on Friday, the OAG suggested that the social networking sites be brought under the purview of taxation by the registering them legally.

The suggestion has been made at a time when disputes are going on whether or not the tax should be imposed on social networking sites.

“The state is bearing a loss of huge fortune through advertisement made on social networking sites such as Imo, messenger, Facebook, viber, WhatsApp,” said the audit report.
