Afghan actress and film director Saba Sahar shot in Kabul

KATHMANDU: Saba Sahar, one of Afghanistan’s first female film directors, has been shot in the capital Kabul, BBC reported.

“Three gunmen opened fire on Sahar when she was travelling to work on Tuesday”, BBC quoted her husband, Emal Zaki, as saying. No group has claimed the attack, so far.

The 44-year-old was taken to hospital for treatment but her condition was not immediately clear.

Sahar is among Afghanistan’s most famous actors, as well as a director and campaigner for women’s rights.

The incident took place in the west of Kabul, according to the report.
