CIAA arrests NEA employee with check of Rs 12 million



KATHMANDU: The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) on Saturday held Ritesh Gupta, chief of Dhalkebar Grid Branch of the Nepal Electricity Authority, Dhanusha, with a check of Rs 12 million.

He has been accused of readying a cheque for the amount to be made payment for the completion of various projects under the branch before approving necessary documents for the same, said the CIAA.

A team from the CIAA, Bardibas arrested Gupta acting on a tip-off that he was heading to Kathmandu with the check and unapproved some documents related to the check, said the CIAA’s Spokesperson Tara Nath Adhikari.

According to the CIAA, an investigation into the accused is underway.
