KATHMANDU: In a mockery of health protocol enforced by the government of Nepal, General Manager of Turkish Airlines for Nepal Abdullah Tuncer Kececi has been found partying following his arrival in Katmandu.

Kececi arrived in Kathmandu from Istanbul, Turkey on Thursday and was found partying with some nine participants the next day at Hotel Marriot.

The government has allowed operating hotels after ending the lockdown. But, holding parties and banquets is strictly prohibited. Holding such gathering is also a breach of quarantine rules.

It should be noted that Kathmandu Valley has witnessed a sharp increase in coronavirus cases with 106 cases in the last 24 hours.

Participants of the party organized to welcome General Manager of Turkish Airlines for Nepal Abdullah Tuncer Kececi.

Health experts worry such gatherings being organized breaching the health protocols can further increase the risk of infection.

As per the aviation standards readied by the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Nepali nationals have to stay in hotel quarantine at their own expenses for the first seven days after arriving in Nepal. All Nepalis and foreign nationals have been asked to strictly abide by the quarantine rules.

A glimpse of the celebration.

Meanwhile, the government is mulling to extend the suspension of domestic and international flights by 15 more days. The government had decided to resume flights from August 17.
