12 hospitals permitted for plasma therapy to COVID-19 patients

KATHMANDU: With a successful trial of plasma therapy for the treatment of COVID-19 patients in the country, the Ministry of Health and Population has assigned 12 hospitals in the country for the purpose.

The Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital (TUTH), Maharajgunj on Sunday had adopted the methods to successfully treat a patient infected with Corona Virus.  According to Dr. Pradip Gyawali, Chief Executive of National Health Research Council, nine government-owned and three private hospitals have been permitted to launch this treatment method.

The hospitals are BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences in Dharan, Dhulikhel Hospital Kavre, TUTH Maharajgunj, Shukraraj Tropical Hospital Teku, Narayani Hospital, Birjung, Koshi Hospital Biratnagar, Karnali Institute of Health Sciences, Jumla, Bheri Hospital Nepalgunj and Seti Hospital Dhangadhi.

Similarly, three private hospitals permitted to use the treatment method are MediCity Hospital, Grandee Hospital and HAMS hospital in Kathmandu.
