150 Nepalis return home from Qatar today



DOHA: As many as 150 Nepalis stranded in Qatar due to the outbreak of coronavirus pandemic have returned home on Sunday.

According to Bhuwan Bhatta, Nepal’s official at Nepal’s Embassy in Qatar, 150 Nepalis, including 8 women have flown home via Nepal Airlines (NA) in coordination of Nepali Embassy in Qatar. Their journey home was facilitated by the Nepal government.

He informed that Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC), Nepal’s flag carrier, has been bringing bodies of those deceased in Qatar during the lockdown period.

Bhatta, on behalf of the Embassy and other representatives of various organizations in Qatar had been to Hamad International Airport for the see-off of the home-returnees.

According to the Embassy sources, NA will operate other flights there on August 3 and August 4. Similarly, Himalaya Airlines is also scheduled to run Qatar flights on August 3 and August 5.

The embassy has appealed to all people to register in its list to stay alert and ready for their journey home.
