KATHMANDU: The Anti-Human Trafficking Bureau of Nepal Police has arrested two persons for trafficking six Nepali women to India.
They have been charged with holding women hostage in a room in Delhi, India, on the pretext of sending them for foreign employment.
According to the Bureau, Pushpa Pariyar, 39, of Rababesi Rural Municipality-1 in Khotang and Pravin Shabin Shah, 56, of Ghorahi Sub-Metropolis-9 in Dang have been nabbed.
They are being investigated under the Human Trafficking and Transportation (Control) Act, 2064 BS, police said.
Six Nepali women from Jhapa, Morang and Parbat districts were taken hostage in Delhi after being tempted to have good employment opportunities in Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and Iraq.
It has been revealed from the investigation that they were taken to India through Nepalgunj on March 13.
The women were rescued and brought to Kathmandu on July 5 with the help of the Nepal Police Human Trafficking Investigation Bureau and the Peace Rehabilitation Center, New Delhi.
