18 APF personnel test positive for COVID-19 in Jhapa



BIRTAMOD:   As many as 18 Armed Police Force (APF) personnel deployed in the eastern border checkpoint of Nepal have been infected with coronavirus.

On July 22, swabs of 48 AFP personnel had been collected and sent to the Provincial Laboratory based in Biratnagar.

Of them 18 tested positive for coronavirus, informed coronavirus focal person in Jhapa Jivan Chamlagain.

APF camp, Jhapa has been sealed after 18 police officials were found infected with the coronavirus, said Nabin Baral, the coordinator of Mechinagar Social Development Committee.

A man of Birtamod municipality and three each in Bahradashi and Jhapa rural municipalities tested positive for coronavirus on Friday.

With this, the total number of people infected with COVID-19 has reached 345 in Jhapa district.

Earlier, 14 people serving time in quarantine of Mechinagar had tested positive for coronavirus in a single day, Gorkhapatra daily reported.
