34 districts at high risk of floods and landslides: MFD



KATHMANDU: With the monsoon getting intense, rain is occurring in 34 districts in the country, now.

According to a weather bulletin issued by Meteorological Forecasting Division (MFD) on Saturday morning, moderate to heavy rainfall is occurring in Taplejung, Panchthar, Jhapa, Dhankuta, Bhojpur and Udayapur.

Similarly, the other districts witnessing rains currently include Siraha, Sindhuli, Ramechhap, Dolakha, Sindhupalchowk, Kavrepalanchowk, the Kathmandu Valley, Dhading, Makwanpur, Nuwakot, Nawalparasi, Tanahun, Lamjung, Gorkha, Kaski, Rupandehi, Kapilvastu, Dang, Pyuthan, Kailali Kanchanpur, Doti, Dadeldhura, Surkhet.

The Department has urged people living near the river banks in these districts to take precautions warning that floods and landslides might occur.

Heavy rain is forecast in Bagmati Pradesh, Pradesh 1 and Gandaki Pradesh due to low pressure monsoon trough surging towards the southern direction from the Tarai region, said MFD.

The heavy rain is likely to occur in one or two places in Pradesh 1, Pradesh 2, Bagmati Pradesh and Pradesh 5 tonight. The rainy weather will continue until Monday, according to the MFD
