NA starts its week-long orientation on code of ethics

KATHMANDU: A week-long orientation program on Nepal Army code-of-ethics 2020 meant for entire army rank and file has kicked off on Friday.

Inaugurating the orientation, Chief of Army Staff Purna Chandra Thapa directed the entire army rank and file to keep army norms and values, conduct, patriotism, selfless service motivation and higher discipline.

CoAS Thapa reiterated that the code-of-ethics is a useful guideline for life between and beyond the service.

“As the system-based organization is the salient feature and foundation of the professional army, it demands seriousness of every army personnel to comply with the code-of-ethics”, Army Chief Thapa said.

NA started the trend of offering such training since 2019 to inform all rank and file of the Nepal Army about the do’s and dont’s during and after service.

During the orientation, matters related to army ethics, media policy, use of social media, human conduct, recruitment, financial transaction and gender conducts will be discussed through presentation, lecture and exercise methods.

According to the NA Directorate of Public Relations and Information, the programme has been designed in such a way that all rank and file of the army could attend through electronic medium.
