PM Oli’s comment baseless, controversial and irresponsible: Dr. Koirala

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress leader Dr. Shekhar Koirala has labelled PM KP Oli’s comment on Ayodhya as baseless, controversial and irresponsible.

Dr. Koirala said PM Oli’s remarks on Ayodhaya is likely to hurt the feelings of all Hindus.

“As we cannot compromise on Lord Buddha and Lumbini, Indians, too, do not want to hear anything controversial about Lord Ram and Ayodhya,” Dr. Koirala said on social media. “Ayodhya is a holy center, a pilgrimage site of all Hindus all over the world,” he added.

He termed PM Oli’s such baseless, controversial and irresponsible remarks will not only worsen the diplomatic relationship but also stakes the cordial relationship at the people-to-people level where the people share the same culture and religion.

He also warned the government to refrain from making faith and religion a diplomatic and political tool to prolong the tenure in power.

“It’s unacceptable to use religion and faith as auxiliaries to politics and diplomacy to prolong one’s days in power,” Dr. Koirala said.
