VOA Health Correspondent Linord discusses COVID-19 in Africa



CAPE TOWN: As the Covid-19 pandemic has claimed over 3,500 deaths so far, VOA anchor Shaka Ssali and his guests discuss topics of special interest to Africans, including politics, economic development, press freedom, health, social issues and conflict resolution on VOA’s Straight Talk Africa.

Likewise, VOA health correspondent Linord Moudou explores the impact of Covid-19 that is having on the continent.

She also discusses with the panel of experts on the current and future complexities of dealing the coronavirus.

Some African countries have started to ease measures and resumed commercial activities after months of lockdown restrictions, social distancing and the closing of borders.

Medical observers have to say that the pandemic is overstretching already weak health systems in Africa. The immediate health impact and economic fallout are evolving, they have said.

Meanwhile, several countries and communities are also experiencing a heavy toll in food insecurity, loss of income, lack of medical supplies, and livelihood and an increase of gender-based violence.
