Monsoon mayhem: NC leader Shekhar Koirala urges for rescue, relief

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) Central Committee member Dr. Shekhar Koirala has urged the party’s cadres to be deployed for rescue and relief as monsoon-induced disasters take toll across the country.

“I urge the friends associated with the party in the districts, regions, towns and villages to join the rescue and relief operations in the affected areas safely,” he said in a tweet on Sunday morning.

Eighty-eight people have lost their lives while 32 are unaccounted for in incidents related to flood and landslide in the 29 days since the monsoon became active.

According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA), 19 districts have been affected the most by flood and landslide.
