Teenage girl drowns in canal in Kanchanpur



KANCHANPUR:  A teenage girl has drowned in water-filled canal in Bhimdatta municipality in the district.

According to District Police Office, Kanchanpur, a 14-year-old girl drowned in a canal in Bhimdatta municipality-13 on Wednesday evening.

“The level of water in the canal was high in the canal,” said DSP Amar Bahadur Thapa, adding, “She was swept away while she was swimming in it. Her dead body has been found today.”

Meanwhile, the deceased’s 34-year-old elder brother has been arrested in the course of investigation, said Thapa.

The investigation into the case is underway, said DSP Thapa.
