KATHMANDU: The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in New Delhi has introduced an AI-based system which has proved very effective and efficient in detecting the corona virus.

A statement issued by the embassy in New Delhi said that it is a result of the project conducted in the Advanced Information & Communication Technology Research Center of Iran.

It said the Covid-19 detection module makes use of artificial intelligence and can diagnose Covid-19 very rapidly, in less than one minute, with accuracy and sensitivity rates of 97and 98 percent respectively.

Accordingly it calculates the size and volume of the infected areas for more effective treatment of Covid-19 patients and utilizing this system may be done at a large scale without the caps and limitations of the existing Covid-19 detection kits.

The Iranian Embassy in New Delhi presented its compliments to the Embassy of Nepal in India.

It said that the outbreak of the Covid-19 Pandemic has faced all nations around the globe with severe challenges, taking a heavy toll on human lives and culminating in significant setbacks to the economy and social life at national and global levels.

According to the Iranian Embassy, cooperation among countries around the world under these circumstances to address this challenge is a must.

The Islamic Republic of Iran, in line with its cordial relations with Nepal, has expressed its readiness to share a free online access to this system to the interested medical centers in Nepal.

“Thus, it would be of great satisfaction if the information in the above may kindly be intimated to the concerned authorities and interested bodies in Nepal and to intimate the result accordingly to this Embassy,” the statement said.
