NCP Standing Committee meeting postponed until Saturday



KATHMANDU: The Standing Committee meeting of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) has been stalled until Saturday.

The meeting will continue on Saturday, party sources said.

The meeting earlier held at the Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar had resumed in the afternoon soon after NCP Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal returned from the meeting with President Budhya Devi Bhandari.

The meeting was stalled for some hours in the afternoon as well as senior leaders, including Dahal and Prime Minister KP Oli and others remained occupied in meetings in a bid to narrow down the intra-party rift.

Prime Minister KP Oli, however, abstained from today’s meeting.

This morning PM Oli held consultation with President Bidhya Devi Bhandari and in the afternoon, he called a meeting of the cabinet, which then decided to prorogue the budget session of the Federal Parliament.

In recent times, the NCP has been entangled in intra-party differences with Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal, senior leaders Madhav Kumar Nepal, Jhalanath Khanal, Vice Chairman Bam Dev Gautam demanding PM Oli resignation.
