NCP Chair Dahal holds meeting with PM Oli’s confidants

KATHMANDU: Chairman of ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Pushpa Kamal Dahal has called a meeting with Prime Minister KP Oli’s confidants at his residence in Khumaltar.

Sources said party leaders Bishnu Poudel, Ishwor Pokhrel, Subash Chandra Nemwang, Bishnu Rimal, Pradeep Gyawali, Shanker Pokhrel, among others were among the NCP leaders to reach Dahal’s residence for the meeting.

Meanwhile, Dahal’s confidantes, including Barsa Man Pun, Janardhan Sharma, Matrika Yadav, Haribol Gajurel, among others are also present in the meeting, sources said.

This move, which has come a few hours before the start of the Standing Committee meeting today, has been seen with significance.

It should be noted that Dahal, senior leader Madhav Kumar Dahal and other senior leaders had held a meeting in Lalitpur yesterday to chalk out an agenda to present during today’s meeting of the party’s Standing Committee.

The meeting held at a bakery at Jhamsikhel of Lalitpur had discussed the agenda to be presented in Thursday’s Standing Committee meeting to be held at the Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar.

The leaders discussed on coming up with a ‘common agenda’ in Thursday’s meeting in a bid to pressurize PM Oli.

It has been learned that other leaders, including party Spokesperson Narayan Kaji Shrestha, Vice Chairman Bam Dev Gautam, Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa, among others were also present in the meeting.

The disgruntled section of the party has already sought Prime Minister Oli’s resignation.

It should also be noted that five Standing Committee members while presenting their views during Wednesday’s meeting also sought the resignation of the Prime Minister.

The meeting was then deferred until Thursday.
