This is not right time for govt change: Dr Rajiv Jha

KATHMANDU: Nepal-China relations expert and independent analyst Dr Rajiv Jha has said parties should not engage in activities that would invite political instability at a time when the coronavirus pandemic has gripped the nation.

Dr Jha has advised the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) to settle the internal dispute through power-sharing.

“There have been weaknesses on the part of the government but its review can be made once the crisis of coronavirus is over,” said Dr Jha, adding, “NCP should move ahead by resolving the misunderstanding subsisting between the top leaders of the party.”

Jha believes that if NCP strikes power balance between Pushpa Kamal Dahal, Madhav Kumar Nepal and Bam Dev Gautam, the existing intra-party dispute will get an outlet and the party will go a long way.

“This is an issue of power sharing. It would be wise to accord the post of executive chairman to Pushpa Kamal Dahal and respectable positions to other leaders to settle the current dispute,” said Dr Jha.

Dr Jha’s view has come after NCP Chairman asked Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli to resign from his post in the Standing Committee meeting on Tuesday.
