25th COVID-19 victim had a shop in Syangja, no ‘travel history’



POKHARA: It has been learnt that a 55-year-old man who died of COVID-19 on Wednesday night in Pokhara used to run a grocery shop at Sirubari of Syangja district.

According to Chief District Officer of Syangja Ganga Bahadur Chhetri, the deceased has no ‘travel history’.

“He is from Arjunchaupari and he used to run a grocery shop at Panchamul of Andhikola-1,” said Chhetri, adding, “He came to Pokhara after he suffered from fever. He tested for coronavirus during test at the lab of Pokhara Academy of Health Sciences,” said Chhetri.

It is not known yet who came into contact with him and how he contracted the infection.

It is difficult to track down how he contracted the infection since his shop and his house are located in different places, sad Yam Prasad Paudel, chief of Syangja District Health Office.

“We have done contact tracing of 35 to 40 people,” said Paudel, adding, “The deceased has no travel history.”
