538 new cases in past 24 hrs, Nepal’s COVID-19 count reaches 10,099

KATHMANDU: Nepal has confirmed 538 new cases of coronavirus in the past 24 hours.

According to the Ministry of Health and Population, with the addition of the cases, total cases in Nepal have reached 10,099.

Speaking at a regular press briefing on Tuesday afternoon, Spokesperson at the Ministry, Dr. Jageshwor Gautam said that among the newly-infected are 448 males and 90 females.

According to Dr. Gautam, a man from Jhapa, two men from Saptari, two women and a man from Sunsari were tested positive at BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences, Dharan and in the test done at Koshi Hospital, Biratnagar, the infection has been confirmed in one man from Morang, two men from Tehrathum, eight women one man from Jhapa.

Similarly, coronavirus infection has been confirmed in two men from Jhapa and one man from Morang at the Provincial Public Health Laboratory, Biratnagar.

A woman from Saptari and 16 others from Saptari were confirmed to be infected at tests at Gajendra Narayan Singh Hospital, Rajbiraj and infection have been confirmed in 12 men from Mahottari and three men from Saptari at the Provincial Public Health Laboratory, Janakpur.

Similarly, tests conducted at the National Public Health Laboratory, Teku, have confirmed coronavirus in two women from Achham, two men from Arghakhanchi, one woman and five men from Baglung, three women and 16 men from Bajhang, 11 women and nine men from Bajura and one man from Dadeldhura.

One woman and 17 men from Dhading, 6 women and 7 men from Gorkha, one woman and 2 men from Gulmi, one woman and 15 men from Kailali, 2 women and 7 men from Kanchanpur, 4 women and 3 men from Kaski, two women and 19 men from Nawalparasi East, four women and 17 men from Parbat, five men from Pyuthan, one woman and 12 men from Rautahat have been confirmed to be infected with coronavirus in tests at the National Public Health Laboratory, Teku.

Similarly, the infection has been confirmed in one man from Rupandehi, two men from Sarlahi, one woman and six men from Siraha, two women and seven men from Syangja and one man from Tanahun.

Similarly, coronavirus infection has been confirmed in 39 men of Dhanusha in a test conducted at the Insect Disease Research and Training Center, Hetauda.

Two women and three men from Gorkha, one woman and five men from Syangja, eight men from Baglung, two women and nine men from Gorkha, one man from Kaski, one woman and four men from Lamjung and one man from Nawalparasi East were tested positive at the Pokhara Institute of Health Sciences. Coronavirus infection has also been confirmed in seven men, one man from Tanahun, one woman and six men from Syangja and one man from Parbat.

A test conducted at the Provincial Public Health Laboratory, Rupandehi, confirmed infection in two men from Gulmi, four women and 44 men from Palpa, two men from Rupandehi, one woman and 44 men from Pyuthan.

Similarly, a test conducted at the Rapti Institute of Health Sciences has confirmed infection in 19 men of Dang.

According to Spokesperson Dr. Gautam, four men from Salyan, eight women and 15 men from Surkhet, one woman and two men from Dailekh and one woman from Humla have been diagnosed with coronavirus infection in tests at Surkhet Provincial Hospital.

Tests conducted at Karnali Institute of Health Sciences, Jumla, confirmed infection in one man from Kalikot, one woman and 18 men from Dailekh.

Likewise, two women and three men from Achham, two women and one man from Bajhang, one woman and two men from Dadeldhura, six women and 16 men from Kailali and three women and five men from Kanchanpur were diagnosed with corona infection in tests at Seti Provincial Hospital.

In the last 24 hours, 4,995 samples have been tested through PCR, said Spokesperson Dr. Gautam.

According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 457,920 samples have been tested for coronavirus in Nepal so far. Of these, 186,366 samples were tested through the PCR and 271,584 through the RDT.

Meanwhile, 76 COVID-19 patients have been discharged from hospitals after recovery. Among them are 68 males and 8 females.

At present, 7,851 people are in isolation and 85,813 are in quarantines across the country.

A total of 2,224 people have been discharged after recovery and 24 have died so far.

COVID-19 has spread to all districts in Nepal expect Rasuwa in Bagmati Province.
