8 militants killed in encounters in Kashmir

NEW DELHI: As many as eight militants have been killed in two fierce encounters in Kashmir, Indian media reports have said.

Operations are still continuing in Shopian and Pampore since Thursday night.

Two militants were killed in Pampore and their bodies have been retrieved from the encounter site.

In Shopian, security forces gunned down four militants.

Likewise, two militants holed up inside a mosque since Thursday morning and were killed.

J&K Police DGP Dilbag Singh stated that both the operations resumed in the morning on Friday.

Jammu and Kashmir Police said security forces have killed 100 militants in Kashmir this year.
