Medicines worth Rs 6 billion imported during lockdown



KATHMANDU: Medicines worth around Rs 6 billion has been imported during lockdown.

According to details released by the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies, readymade medicine and its raw materials worth Rs 59.096 million were imported during the lockdown.

The government has imposed lockdown from March 24. Readymade medicines worth Rs 4.57 billion as well as raw materials worth Rs 1.33 billion were imported.

Spokesperson at the Ministry, Prakash Dahal, said that 312,889 metric tonnes of food stuffs, 78,227 metric tonnes of lentils, 99,373 metric tonnes of vegetables, 39,448 metric tonnes of fruits and 12,311 metric tonnes of dairy products were imported during the period.
