Unnecessary comments being made on MCC: PM Oli

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Oli has said that unnecessary comments are being made on the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) Compact.

Responding to questions raised during the budget debate in the National Assembly, Prime Minister Oli said, “I have not met any people who have thoroughly studied and analyzed the agreement. I request you to read the agreement first. People are protesting for the sake of protest. It is being said that the agreement will bring the US military in the country. Where do they study that?”

Denouncing the rumors doing rounds that the American military was coming to Nepal, the PM said, “We should not go by the rumors. The tendency to run after rumors is irrelevant.”

He curiously asked, “Are people bothered about development works that are going to take place here or are they bothered about foreign aid coming in bulk?”

Reaffirming his commitment towards the nation and national interest, PM Oli said that his nationalist stance was always there, irrespective of him holding the highest post of the country.
