Heavy downpour swept away a school in Taplejung



TAPLEJUNG: Heavy downpour has flooded the Phaktanglung-4 Ikhabu located Rani Bari School’s building.

According to Phaktanglung Rural Municipality Mayor Saroj Aveng, the landslide induced by heavy downpour of Tuesday swept away Rani Basic School of Phaktanglung-4, Ikhabu.

Prem Khatiwada, the Headmaster of the school said the landslide that started 50 meters above the school swept away the 4-roomed school building, 2-roomed toilet, the school canteen, the canteen’s utensils and 50 sets of furniture.

The downpour turned devastating as it swept away the school building and some areas where some farmers had been rearing animals.

“Rani Basic School, Phul Bahadur Tamang’s pig and goat farms, Bhatka Labung’s kitchen and pig far and some agricultural land over there have been swept away by the landslide,” Mayor Aveng offered the details of the loss.

He added that the Municipality was making further plans to ensure security of the people over there.
