Kuwait returnee girl tests coronavirus positive



PAANCHTHAR: A 25-year-old girl rescued from Kuwait has tested COVID-19 positive in the test carried out in Biratnagar.

According to the District Public Health Office(DPHO), Paanchthar, the girl of Phidim Municipality who was rescued from Kuwait recently has tested positive in the test carried out in Provincial Public Health Laboratory, Biratnagar.

The DPHO chief Narad Subedi informed that the girl had been living in the quarantine set up in Paanchthar Multiple Campus and her swab was collected and sent for the PCR test on Monday.

Rescued from Kuwait, she was first kept in a holding center set up in Bhaktapur prior to being sent to Paanchthar.

Although three others rescued from other countries kept in the same quarantine were also tested against COVID-19, they all but the Phidim girl had COVID-19 negative result.

Out of 57 people including 53 from India and 4 from other countries got their swab tested, 56 got COVID-19 negative result.

According to Subedi, the COVID-19 positive girl is being sent to Koshi Hospital, Biratnagar.
