BHIMDUTTANAGAR: Among the total coronavirus infected in Sudurpaschim State, 92.85 per cent of them are India returnees.
The Sudurpaschim State Health Directorate said as many as 252 people were tested positive for coronavirus in the State so far.
Among them, 234 are India returnees. Out of the infected people, two have died and 26 people have returned home after recovery.
According to Dharmananda Giri, Statistics Assistant at the Directorate, three security personnel, four health workers and two drivers were also tested positive for coronavirus in the State.
He said the coronavirus was also found on an employee of Dadeldhura, one ward chair of Kailali, and one each of Banke, Kathmandu, Birgunj and Itahari who arrived in Sudurpaschim.
Giri informed that a total of 59,432 people including 9,947 women are quarantined in 88 local levels in the State.
Coronavirus has been confirmed on 54 in Kanchanpur, 83 people in Kailali, 20 in Bajura, 39 in Dadeldhura, 14 in Bajhang, 15 in Achham, 12 in Darchula, nine in Doti and six in Baitadi as of Saturday.
Similarly, 22,078 people have returned home from quarantines in the State after staying 14 days in the quarantine facilities.
More than 28,000 people had entered from Gaddachauki check point on June 10 and most of them were from Sudurpaschim and Karnali states, according to the District Administration Office, Kanchanpur.
Assistant Chief District Officer of Kanchanpur Gokarna Prasad Upadhyay shared that they have been collecting data of those people arriving Nepal from border areas and coordinating with the concerned municipalities to take them in quarantine facilities.
He further said that the number of people entering Nepal from India has been reducing.
The highest number of people arrived Nepal from India through Trinagar customs point in Kailali during mid-May to mid-June, which stands at more than 85,000.
Officials said that a total of 8,678 people underwent PCR test for the coronavirus in the State so far.
