Int’l Committee’s annual report presented in HoR meeting



KATHMANDU: Chairperson of the International Affairs Committee of the parliament, Pabitra Niraula, presented its annual report for the year 2077 BS in the meeting of House of Representatives (HoR) today.

There’s a constitutional provision that the parliamentary committees should present their annual reports to the parliament. The report consists of important directives and recommendations furnished by the Committee over its 35 meetings in a period of one year.

The Committee had offered suggestions on issues ranging from border security and inundation issues, procurement of Nepal Airlines Corporation, tourism promotion and management and efforts relating to conservation of cultural heritages among others.

According to the report, the Committee also issued directives to the government for safeguarding Nepal’s territorial integrity and sovereignty, addressing the issues facing Nepalis abroad including in India affected by COVID-19 crisis.

Committee Chairperson Niraula shared that the recommendations furnished by the Committee to the government also included rescue of the Nepalis stranded abroad during the lockdown, issuance of map including the Lipulek, Limpiyadhura and Kalapani among others.

There are a total of 16 thematic committees in the federal parliament, including 10 parliamentary committees in HoR and four in National Assembly and two joint committees.
