‘The Bachelor’ casts Matt James as first Black leading man

NEW YORK: After an anti-racism campaign from fans criticizing “The Bachelor” for its lack of diversity, the popular dating program has found its first Black leading man after some 18 years and 40 seasons.

The ABC unveiled a 28-year-old Matt James as its “Bachelor.”

An entrepreneur, real estate broker, and community-organization founder had earlier appeared on Hannah Brown’s season of “The Bachelorette” as a friend of contestant Tyler Cameron.

Attorney Rachel Lindsay earlier last week had threatened to dissociate herself from the ‘Bachelor’ brand unless it got a “diversity makeover”, according to the latimes.
