Nepal showed unprecedented unity; talks will be held with India: PM Oli



KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Oli has responded that Nepal showcased an unprecedented unity in unanimously endorsing the Constitution Amendment Bill to make a change to the Coat of Arms as per the newly updated map of Nepal.

“There is an unprecedented unity in the amendment of the constitution,” he said. “It is a matter of happiness for Nepal and Nepalis.”

Prime Minister Oli said that a course has been completed after the second amendment proposal of Nepal’s constitution was unanimously passed to include the new map that includes Limpiyadhura, Lipu Lekh and Kalapani encroached by India.

“We have completed a course after the map has been endorsed by the Parliament,” he said as he left the parliament building on Saturday evening, “Now, talks will be held with India”.

Prime Minister Oli has also expressed happiness over the unprecedented unity in the campaign to regain the encroached land.

In a historic event, the House of Representatives unanimously endorsed the Constitution Amendment Bill on this evening to make a change to the Coat of Arms as per the newly updated map of Nepal.

In the closed voting, 258 votes were cast in favor of the amendment bill and no vote against which is more than the two-thirds majority required for the endorsement, Speaker Agni Sapkota announced.
